What is a milia?
A milia is a small spot that appears just beneath the surface of the skin. A milia’s diameter ranges from 1 to 2mm. A milia is a hard bump under the skin that feels like a grain of sand. Milia can appear as a single spot, but they can also appear in groups of 5 to 10 or even more. Milia are disliked by the public because they are visible.
How do I know if I have milia?
Milia are very firm or hard, shiny white spots that measure 1 or 2mm in diameter. The most common sites are:

How are milia treated?
A simple procedure can be used to extract Milia. The skin is cleansed first, and a small injection of local anesthetic is used to numb the area. The milia is removed after the skin over it is incised. It is not necessary to use stitches.
It takes 5 to 10 minutes to complete the procedure.
As a result, a pin-prick-sized wound develops. In 3 to 4 days, the scab will fall off and the wound will heal. There is no need for a dressing, and the wound can be covered with Vaseline three times a day.

What is the difference between a milia and a cyst?
Milia are very small, about 1 or 2 mm in diameter, and bright white as they are just under the skin. Anything larger or deeper than this is not a milia.
