Is Botox treatment the best available option to combat forehead wrinkles?
Botox is one of the most effective treatments for wrinkles on the forehead. “Botox prevents the muscle from working, which eliminates the crease,” Dr. Arun Panda explained. “The muscle contracts over time and with sun exposure, causing wrinkles, but Botox will soften them.” Dr. Arun Panda also suggests an ultrasonic treatment to help tighten skin on the forehead, as well as brow lifts, which are small incisions in the hairline of the scalp for a smoother overall appearance.
Some people opt for botulinum toxin injections (shots) to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin®, and JeuveauTM are some of the brand names for these injections. For a period of time, the injections relax certain muscles in the face, making wrinkles less noticeable.
Types of wrinkles
Dynamic wrinkles and very fine lines and wrinkles are the two types of wrinkles.
Face muscles that move when you smile, laugh, or squint cause dynamic wrinkles. These can be found around the lips, on the forehead, and in the space between the brows. They’re also known as “crows’ feet” at the corners of your eyes. Dynamic wrinkles are a part of everyone’s DNA. These wrinkles become deeper and more visible as you get older. Botulinum toxin can be used to reduce the appearance of dynamic wrinkles.
How often should patients receive treatment, and how long does each treatment last?
Patients should come in once or twice a year for Botox and fillers, according to Dr. Arun Panda. Dr. Arun Panda, on the other hand, suggests that patients receive treatment every 12 to 15 weeks, with each treatment lasting three months. “It’s like filling up your car’s gas tank; you don’t want it to get to zero and then fill it up again,” Dr. Arun Panda explained. “You try to take care of it before it runs out.”
